Abstract

799,220. Refrigerating. CARRIER ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Dec. 18, 1956 [March 16, 1956], No. 38526/56. Class 29 In a continuous cycle absorption system preferably of the type described in Specification 787,298 and controlled as described in Specification 698,309, non-condensible gases are withdrawn through a pipe 83 from absorber 3 by an ejector 81 operated by solution withdrawn from and returned to a container 41 by a pump 79 driven by a motor 80, and the container is pivoted about a horizontal axis 73 so that, as the liquid level rises, the container tips over to open a switch 85 cutting out the motor 80, whereupon atmospheric pressure forces excess solution back through pipe 83 to the absorber. When the liquid level returns to normal, the container tips back to close the switch and start the ejector and purging action again. The solution in the container is cooled by a coil 76 through which passes chilled liquid refrigerant from the evaporator 4. Specification 639,413 also is referred to.
