In a continuous cycle absorption refrigerating system comprising a generator 5, a condenser 17, an expansion valve 18, an evaporator 1, an absorber 8 and a pump 10 for forcing strong solution from the absorber to the generator, the absorber operates at a higher pressure than the evaporator and refrigerant vapour is drawn from the latter through a pipe 2 by an injector 4 supplied with high pressure vapour from the generator 5 through a pipe 6, the vapour being forced into the absorber through a pipe 7. The vapour from the evaporator may pass direct to the injector through a pipe 19 or may pass through a heat exchanger 3 traversed by the liquid refrigerant. Instead of being supplied with vapour direct from the generator, the injector may receive vapour from the rectifier of the system.
