Class 109 [Also in Group XXX] In the production of a wire rope chain, tubular connecting members are secured to the ropes of the chain by swaging, which drives some of the material of the connecting members between the strands of the ropes As shown, wire ropes 3, 4, 5, 6 on which are swaged connecting members 7, 8, 9, 10 are joined in pairs by the forked ends 11, 12 of a coupling member 2 engaging with milled slots on the connecting members 7, 8, 9, 10. The swaging may extend over all or part of the connecting member which may be changed in shape thereby.
