Abstract

797,899. Safety helmets. KANGOL HELMETS, Ltd., and MEISNER, S. Oct. 1, 1956 [Oct. 20, 1955] No. 29941/55. Class 63 A safety helment comprising a moulded shell 10 with an internal head harness consisting of loops of webbing 11 connected together by a lace 13 is characterized by having a readily detachable apron 19. The apron is detachable so that it can be easily replaced and will not transmit undue force from the helmet to the wearer in case of an accident. The webbing of the head harness is attached to the shell 10 by rivets 12 and a two part headband 14-15 is attached to the loops 11 near their ends. A strip of foamed plastic material 16 is secured to the shell between it and the headband. The detachable apron 19 is secured to the outer part 14 of the headband by press studs. the female parts 20 of the studs being on the apron and the male parts 21 on the headband 14. Straps 17 and 18 may be attached to the apron 19 instead of to the shell 10, or alternatively they may be secured to the shell 10 by press studs or other fastening means that will not transmit undue force.
