Abstract

796,716. Clips. RAYMOND, A. March 22, 1956 [March 30, 1955], No. 8996/56. Class 44 [Also in Group X] A fastening for securing a longitudinally curved beading over a correspondingly curved edge of a plate, comprises a strip of resilient material sheared and bent to U- shape so as to have two limbs bridged by a head, one of the limbs being bent to correspond with the curvature of the plate edge, inwardly and rearwardly directed prongs formed in one of the limbs and an outwardly and forwardly directed spring- tongue sheared and bent out of one of the limbs. As shown, the fastener is applied to a projecting flange 3 of an opening 2 in a wing 1 of a vehicle for securing thereto an annular beading 6. Each fastener comprises two limbs 7a, 7b, the limb 7a being bowed to a curvature corresponding to that of the flange 3 and the limb 7b being formed with a lead-in 7c, a spring tongue 7e and prongs 7d; the arrangement is such that the beading 6 is pushed over the fasteners applied to the flange 3 such that a flange 6a of the beading cams over the tongue 7e. According to Fig. 8 (not shown) prongs may also be formed in the limb 7a.
