Abstract
794,726. Automatic gain control. PYE, Ltd. Dec. 16, 1955 [Dec. 16, 1954], No. 36467/54. Class 40 (5). An automatic gain control circuit comprises a variable-mu valve V1 forming an R.F. or I.F. amplifier and a short grid base valve V2 forming a subsequent stage of the amplifier, connected for D.C. in series with the valve V1. The A.G.C. voltage is applied to the grid of the valve V2 which forms a D.C. amplifier whereby the valve V1 can be biased to cut off for a small change in current in the valve V2. A resistor R4 supplies anode current to the valve V2 when valve V1 is cut off, while resistors R1, R2 are provided for input impedance correction.
