Abstract

794,721. Suction cleaners. HOOVER, Ltd. Aug. 13, 1954 [Aug. 18, 1953], No. 23538/54. Class 8(1). A suction cleaner of the handle propelled type comprises a handle 5 having secured thereto a cable take up reel 15 housed within the upper end of a pervious appearance bag 12, enclosing the filter 11, which it serves to support. In the embodiment shown the bag 12 is of resilient material so as to remain taut whilst permitting movement of the handle. In a modification the reel 15 is slidably secured to the handle and is spring biased to the upper position to hold the bag 12 taut, the bag 12 being of inextensible material.
