794,699. Making and delivering filter mouthpiece cigarettes. KÍRBER, K. Sept. 13, 1956 [Dec. 2, 1955], No. 27993/56. Class 130. Cigarettes 2, on the delivery belt 3 of a machine which has joined filter mouthpieces 2a to the cigarettes by wrapping connector sheets around their abutting points, have connector sheet adhesion improved by a relatively long belt 4 moving only slightly faster or slower than the belt 3 and which turns the cigarettes through little more than half a revolution during transit. The supporting bed 9 of the belt 4 is pivotable about one roller shaft 5 itself adjustable to suit different diameter cigarettes. The cigarettes 2 pass on to the belt 2 from a faster-moving cutter drum 1 and are conveyed from the belt 2 to a take-off belt 10 by a bridge 12, which is pivotable at 14 to allow the cigarettes to drop into a funnel 15 on starting or adjusting the machine, and comprises fingers 11a ... 11d so spaced that poorly joined cigarettes and mouthpieces break apart and fall into the funnel 15.
