Abstract

793,330. Riveting tools. WALDES KOH-INOOR, Inc. Feb. 14, 1956 [Feb. 25, 1955], No. 4569/56. Class 61. A tool for applying a self-locking retaining ring to a rivet or the like comprises a pair of arms pivoted together at the ends remote from the heads and having plate-like gripping heads 30, 31, one head 31 having a transverse opening 32 therethrough for receiving the rivet or the like and a shallow countersunk ring retaining recess 33 communicating with and extending above the opening 32, the other head 30 having mounted thereon a transversely extending centering member comprising an adjustable screw 34 adapted to push the rivet or the like through the ring on closing the tool arms. The arms 25, 26 are pivoted together at 28, a spring 29 urging them apart. A hand lever 38 pivoted at 39 to the arm 26 and adapted to press against an abutment plate 41 on the other arm 25 effects movement of the arms towards one another. The minimum spacing of the heads 30, 31 is determined by an adjusting screw 36. In a modification the lower lever arm is bolted to the top surface of a bench and the operating lever is connected to a foot pedal.
