Abstract
792,360. Controlling aircraft. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd. April 20, 1955 [April 20, 1955], No. 1761/54. Class 4. Movement of airbrake flaps 15 produces compensating adjustment of control surfaces 1. The surface 1 is normally displaced by a manually operated link 9, lever 7, link 8 and a hydrobooster 2. Through a second hydro-booster 13, actuation of the flap 15 by a manual control 16 produces movement of the fulcrum 6 of the lever 7, thereby modifying the control that this lever effects on the surface 1. Fig. 2 (not shown) illustrates the use of the second booster 13 to actuate the flap 15 and to move the fulcrum 6, whilst Fig. 3 (not shown) illustrates the coupling of the manual controls of surfaces 1 and 15 so that only one booster is employed. Where the control surface 1 is remote from the flap 15, Fig. 4, potentiometers 31, 35 may be arranged to provide a signal controlling the booster 13 and thus moving the fulcrum 6. Hydraulic pneumatic or electrical means may be employed in place of the mechanical linkage arranged to compound the movements of surfaces 1 and 15. The servomotors may be electrical.
