Abstract

792,215. Washers &c. McKEE, J. R. July 9, 1956, No. 21235/56. Class 89(1) [Also in Group XXVI] A sealing-washer comprises a plate 1, 1, Fig. 8, of metal, hard-vulcanized-fibre or a rigid synthetic-resin, with a central opening 2 larger than the screw 22, nail &c. passing therethrough, and a resilient, rubber-like seating-member 3 bonded to one face of the plate and having a central opening 5 concentric with opening 2 but of smaller diameter than the minor-diameter of the screw &c. The lip 23 so formed may be chamfered and retains the washer assembled on the screw &c. In use, the lip is pressed into the space 13, Fig. 11, between the shank of the screw &c. and the opening 18 in the part 12 being fixed to a part 11, and the member 3 is compressed by the plate, thus sealing the parts. In another arrangement, the washer is crowned instead of flat.
