Class 97(1) In an ophthalmic mounting carrying meniscus lenses and formed of two halfframe members joined by a central bridge and each shaped to follow the upper nasal and temporal sides of a lens so as to hold the latter resiliently in place the lens-engaging portions of each frame member are grooved, the groove in the nasal and temporal portions having a width approximately equal to the edge thickness of the lens so as to grip the latter and the groove in the upper portions being of greater width so that meniscus lenses of differing curvature may be accommodated without bending the frame members. As shown each frame member comprises a portion 9 extending along the top edge of a lens 23, a curved portion 22 extending ing partly around the nasal edge of the lens and an angled portion 21, 27 extending partly around the nasal edge of the lens and pressing the latter against the portions 9 and 22. As shown in extended plan in Fig. 3 each rim member has a groove narrow at the ends 19 and 20 corresponding respectively to portions 22 and 21 and 27 and wider at 16 corresponding to the portion 9. Side walls 17 and 18 gripping the edge of a lens inserted at 19 and 20 but not at portion 16 whereby different lens-curvatures can be accommodated.
