Abstract
791,596. Valves. GREEN & CO. (ECCLESFIELD), Ltd., W. Nov. 3, 1955 [March 21, 1955], No. 8094/55. Class 135. The valve 13 comprises a casing 15, Fig. 3, with an inlet 17 and an outlet 18, within which casing is a hollow tapered plug 19 embodying a handle that enables the plug to be rotated between two extreme positions defined by projections on the plug and a stop on the casing, which stop also serves as a pointer for a scale on the plug consisting of four index marks. Each mark relates to one of four differently sized jets 27 screwed into the plug 19 at intervals of 45 degrees and co-operating with the inlet 17 whilst diametrically opposite each jet is an outlet port. The handle end of the plug incorporates a sight glass 32 and the other plug end is provided with a threaded stem 33 that receives an external nut 36 whereby the plug is held in the bore. A jet at least equal in size to the largest of the jour fets 27 may be located downstream of the outlet 18. Any number of jets may be secured to the plug and the outlets ports may be arcuate. Oil, which is supplied to a tank 6, Fig. 1, via a filter 2 and a float chamber 4, flows to burner not shown, by way of a combined switch 9 and valve 8, and the valve 13; the switch 9 which controls a draught fan, not shown, is in circuit with a main switch 10 over which is energized a thermostatically controlled heater 11 in the tank 6.
