Abstract

790,101. Clips. TINNERMAN PRODUCTS, Inc. June 7, 1956 [July 26, 1955], No. 17619/56. Class 44 [Also in Groups X and XXXVI] A clip 10 for securing an article to a panel P comprises a sheet metal body defining a base 11, article engaging means integral with the base, a shank comprising a pair of flanges 20 projecting from the underside of the base 11 in substantially parallel and spaced relation, the flanges each having one end provided with a cutout defining an abutment 24 adjacent the base and a hook 22 extending outwardly from the abutment, the flanges being receivable in an opening 1 in the panel with the base at one side of the panel and the hooks extending through and engaging the reverse side of the panel adjacent the opening 1 with the abutment 24 abutting the wall of the opening, one or each flange having its opposite end provided with a co-operating abutment 28 adapted to engage an opposite wall of the panel-opening to retain the flange against lengthwise shifting, and an outwardly projecting shoulder 32 on one or each flange adapted to engage the reverse side of the panel adjacent the panel-opening to lock the flange in position in the panel opening. As shown, the clip is used to secure tubes or cables C to the panel P for which purpose the article engaging means is constituted by an extension 40 of the base 11 in the form of a pair of spring arms 41, 42. The shoulder 32 is formed by a tongue 30 bent out from the flange 20. A lip 13 is also bent out from the base 11 to facilitate assembly of the clip to the panel. In another arrangement Figs. 5 and 6 (not shown) for attaching a channel shaped moulding to a panel, the base of the clip is formed with springing arms on to which the moulding is sprung.
