Abstract
790,069. Reflectors. MYERS, E. B. July 11, 1955 [April 21, 1955], No. 20006/55: Drawings to Specification. Class 97(1) [Also in Groups XXII and XXXII] A rear view reflector for a motor vehicle comprises a reflecting element having a convex reflective surface corresponding in shape to a rectangular segment of a torus the longitudinal dimension of the segment having a curvature determined by the radius of the circle whose rotation generates the torus and the transverse dimension having a curvature determined by the radius of the circular path in which the circle is rotated, the radius of the circular path being substantially twice the radius of the circle. The reflector may be of glass, plastic, or metal e.g. aluminium, in which latter case the face of the aluminium is anodized, polished and dyed the dyeing to reduce the effects of glare. The reflector is made from a metallic strip by stretchwrap forming (see Group XXII).
