The selective coloured reflection is provided by a facetted prismatic transparent member 2 over-lying a reflector 1 coloured in a pattern of differently coloured strips corresponding to, and in register with, the position of the facets so that facets having one inclination will return light of a different colour to those of another inclination. When used on vehicles, the sign reflects differently coloured light depending on the angle of approach of another vehicle's headlights. Member 3 may be a protective transparent cover.
