787,000. Callipers and dividers. BENKOE, I. March 7, 1956, No. 7217/56. Class 97(3) The point on one leg is movable relatively to the leg against the action of a spring, the movement being in the direction of m easu re ment , means being provided to indicate the position of the point relatively to the leg. In the callipers shown the point is formed by one arm of a lever 15 pivoted to the leg 10 at 16, the other end bearing on a pin 17 at the end of a lever 18 pivoted at 19 and acted on by a spring blade 21 the end of this lever being pointed to co-operate with an index 20. Movement of the levers is limited by an abutment carried by a plate 22, shown broken away, which covers the moving parts and is apertured for observation of the pointer and index. The legs 10, 11 carry rails 10a, 11a on which slide abutment members 24, 25 which limit the depth to which the calipers are inserted into the workpiece. The abutment members carry index marks 28, 29 co-operating with scales on the plate 22 and, at 26, on the leg 11.
