[Also in Group XXVIII] In making a compressor having a frame 2 and a bracket 14 of material thicker than that of the frame and carrying a cylinder, a pair of spaced rails 16 of material of substantially the same thickness as that of the frame is welded to the frame, the bracket is disposed between the rails and is locally welded to the rails. A channel member 17 having side members 16 forming rails of the same thickness as the thin frame 2 of a refrigerant compressor is locally welded at 19 to the frame, a hole 18 being provided in the channel for the bearing sleeve 4 of a shaft 5 driving, through an eccentric 7 and slide 8, the piston 10 of a cylinder 11. The cylinder is secured to the arm 13 of an L-shaped bracket 14, the thick leg 15 of which is placed between the rails 16 and locally fusion welded at 20 to the ends thereof. In a modification the rails have apertures therein through which fusion welds are effected. In a further modification spot resistance welds are made between the rails and leg 15.
