690,943. Welding by fusion; composite casting. MUREX WELDING PROCESSES, Ltd. April 11, 1951 [June 2, 1950], No. 13829/50. Classes 83 (i) and 83 (iv). In surfacing articles a strip of smooth-faced metal to form the facing is placed in the desired spaced relationship to the article and welded thereto by depositing weld metal in the intervening space. In an embodiment, a strip 4 of, e.g., mild steel # inch-<SP>3</SP>/ 16 inch thick is welded to an article 2 by an electrode 1 which deposits metal 3 between the strip and the article so that the strip is not quite melted through. A refractory mould 5 and a supporting carbon block 6 are employed.
