Abstract

1283052 Screening cellulose pulp P C WILSON and R P HUGHART 4 Aug 1969 [12 Aug 1968] 38904/69 Heading BID Cellulose pulp is screened in a centrifugal strainer as described and claimed in Specification 1283053 at between 70 and 650 times the force of gravity and for 1¢ to 12 seconds, the relative movement of the discharging scroll turning the pulp over as it moves it along the screen to effect additional dewatering Fig. 3. Relatively long fibres may be added to the pulp to assist screening. Numerical details of screen aperture sizes and consistency of ingoing pulp are given. The pulp fibres retained on the rotary screen may be washed and dried by liquid and gas fed through apertures in the scroll, the gas being withdrawn from the housing by a vacuum pump at outlet (48). Fibres penetrating the rotary screen may be retained by a fixed outer screen and recycled.
