Abstract

783,183. Walls. storage bins; building units. TARSLAG, Ltd. May 31. 1955 (May 29. 1954]. No. 15957/54. Classes 20(1), 20(3), 20(4) and 87(1) The walls of buildings such as single storey houses, garages, farm buildings, bins and bunkers, are erected from units 1, 2, or 3, Fig. 1, laid end-to-end the ends of the units being so overlapped by connecting units 7 laterally disposed relatively to the wall units that key-ways 21 formed in units 7 are in register with slots 18 formed in the units 1, 2, 3, and receive keys 8 to interlock the units together. In forming a straight wall, sill units 1 are laid abutting one another with their ledges 19 resting on the foundation. The link units. 7 are then placed so as to overlap the ends of adjacent units 1. the link units 7 having a height twice that of the sill units. The keys 8 are then placed so that their central portions enter the slots 18 in units 1 and their dovetailed end portions 8b engage the similarly shaped key-ways 21 in the units 7. Slabs 2 are now placed on top of the units 1 and the keys 8 and units 7 hold these in position, the slabs 2 being twice the height of the units 1. i.e. of the same height as units 7. In forming a junction between an external wall 11, Fig. 5, and an internal wall 16, internal angle units 5 are used. If four walls join at right angles four units 5 are employed for each course. At a corner of an external wall an external angle unit 4 and an internal angle unit 5 are used. U-shaped units 6 are used at the end of a length of wall such as at door and window openings. At the head of the wall the units 1 are inverted. Four external walls the upper and lower edges between the slots 18 are sloped downwardly and stepped at 20, any moisture being thereby drained to the outside of the building. For internal walls the units 3 are employed which have flat upper and lower edges. The sill and head units for internal walls are half the height of units 3 as indicated by the line 3a. The vertical edges of units 1, 2, 3 are bevelled at 26.
