Abstract

1,142,720. Panels. G. K. LARGER. 1 Nov., 1967, No. 49670/67. Heading E1B and E1R. A prefabricated panel 20 comprises a number of courses of apertured bricks 10, bonded with mortar, held between two steel beams 12 by steel rods 16 passing through aligned apertures and being bolted in inwardly directed channel portions 13 of the beams. Projections 31 on the edge brick at one side of a panel engage grooves 30 in the edge bricks of an adjacent panel, a sealing gasket being introduced therebetween. In horizontal joints between vertically adjacent panels, square section keying members are introduced into the channels 13 between the rods 16. The panels connected to a framework by lugs 21, 21a having vertical slots 23 which receive bolts which also pass through horizontal slots in angle members having further horizontal slots in a plane perpendicular to the panel through which bolts pass to the framework, thereby giving accurate 3-dimensional location of the panel. The panel may be used as a supporting wall the lugs 21, 21a being omitted and the upper ends of rods extending through a wooden beam to which a roof is to be connected.
