Abstract
782,834. Clamps. WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO., Ltd. WALKER, A. H. B., and COLE, L. A. July 20, 1955 [Sept. 13, 1954], No. 26475/54. Class 61. [Also in Group XXXVI] A jig for holding and making contact with the electrodes of a rectifier 21 comprises first and second metal blocks 1, 2 movable at right angles to their contact surfaces 3, 4, the block 1 being movable to a first or second position and being biased by a spring 8 to the first or lower position and the block 2 being movable by a cam 14 to a first or second position but biased towards its first or lower position by a spring 12. The biasing force which increases with the displacement of the block from the lower position, has a predetermined value when the rectifier 21 is gripped between the surfaces 3, 4, the block 1 being then in its second or upper position. The contact surface 3 of highly conducting metal is smooth, the contact surface 4 being knurled. Central holes may be provided in the blocks 1, 2. The block 1 is fixed to a rod 5 which is slidable in a bushing 6, the rod carrying a pin 22 which engages a cam slot 23 in the bushing. The block 2 is fixed to a rod 9 carrying a pin 24 which engages a slot 25 is a bushing 10. Downward movement of the block 2 is limited by the cam 14 which is fixed to a shaft 15 rotatable through 180 degrees by the knob 17. A second cam 19 on the shaft 15 closes a switch 20 when the block 2 is in its upper position. Specification 769,715 [Group XXXVI] is referred to.
