Abstract

Class 139 In an alarm timepiece the hour wheel is moved axially by a spring pressed rigid lever to release the alarm hammer and the said lever arrests the alarm mechanism after a predetermined unwinding of the alarm spring. The hour wheel 6, Figs. 1 and 2, rotates above the alarm wheel 8 and is urged downwardly by a lever 5 acted on by a spring 13. A nose 15 of the lever 5 normally engages a pin 16 on the alarm hammer 4 which is thereby locked. When two pins 9, 10 on the hour wheel 6 coincide with two slots 9a, 10a on the alarm wheel 8 the spring 13 is effective and axially moves the hour wheel 6 through the lever 5 which frees the hammer 4 for actuation by the alarm spring. A gear 17 is rotated by the alarm spring and rotates a coaxial heart-shaped cam 19 through a lost motion pin and slot connection 20, 18 until a conical projection 14 on the cam 19 meets a projection 21 of the lever 5. The hour wheel 6 continues to rotate and the pins 9, 10 ride out of the slots 9a, 10a so that the lever 5 is returned to its initial position and. the projection 21 frees the pin 14 whereupon a spring 22 moves the heart-shaped cam to its initial position.
