Abstract
782,512. Stays. McCAUGHAN, T. July 13, 1954 [Oct. 8, 1953], No. 20480/54. Class 65(1) In order that a hinged window 8 provided with a pin-and-hole stay 6 on one of its vertical sides may be held in partlyopen positions without the end of the stay projecting into the room, an attachment 2 is provided lower on the frame 4 than the pin 11 with which the stay is normally engaged to hold the window open, the 'former attachment having stay-engaging pins 5 with end portions bent to lie parallel to the plate 2 and at different angles to the vertical so that the stay is approximately perpendicular to the end portion of any pin when its end hole is engaged with that pin. The plate 2 may be extended to carry also the pin 11 (which has a bent end portion like the pins 5). or alternatively all the pins may be in the form of separate right-angled hooks screwed directly into the frame member 4; the pin 11 is preferably not in the same vertical line as the other pins.
