780,482. Sewing machines. VITTORIO NECCHI SOC. PER AZIONI. Sept. 23, 1953 [Oct. 8, 1952], No. 26201/53. Class 112 In a sewing machine a throat plate provided with a plurality of needle throats, some of which are associated with feed dog slots, is turnable in a recess in a base member provided with fixing members for retaining said plate in a selected position. In Fig. 3 a plate 3 is rotatable about a pin 11 mounted in the base 4, the plate and pin being movable upwardly against a spring 12, and any one of a series of holes near the periphery of the plate being engageable with a pin 14 projecting from the plate. In a modification, Fig. 4, a plate 1 is formed with three holes 9 engageable selectively by a pin projecting upwardly from a permanent magnet mounted in the base, a notch 8 in the periphery of the plate being engageable simultaneously by a projection 6 on a sliding inspection plate 7. In a further modification, Fig. 5, two diametrically opposed peripheral notches 8 in a plate 2 are engageable selectively and respectively by the projection 6 and the head 10 of a screw which projects from the base.
