779,563. Supporting pipes. BRUCE, M. J. H. March 19, 1956 [March 18, 1955], No. 7979/55. Addition to 660,621 [Group XXXVI], Class 99(2) In a support as described in the parent Specification and comprising a pivoted arm 27 attached at the lower end thereof to an ironing board 10, there is freely suspended from the upper end of the arm, means such as a strap 34 for supporting and gripping one or more flexible conduits for conveying steam or gas to and/ or from a smoothing iron 36. As shown, . a spindle 13, fixed to an angle bracket 11 secured to the side of the board 10, projects through the hollow boss 18 of a fitting 16, the tubular, metal support 27 being clamped in a split sleeve 19 extending radially from the boss. The upper end of the support is bent to form a laterally extending portion 31 which carries a hook 32 adapted to be engaged in any one of a number of holes 33 formed in the strap 34, the latter having at one end thereof a stirrup, buckle or clip 35 through which the other end of the strap is passed to form a loop around the conduits 37, 38. The arm 27 pivots about the spindle 13, and is urged to an upright position by a torsion spring 24 located about the boss 18. The conduits are secured to a plate 39 fixed to the board 10. In a modification, the strap is replaced by a spring clip or a clamp.
