Abstract
310,798. American Laundry Machinery Co., (Assignees of Pauly, R. C.). April 30, 1928, [Convention date]. Shirt clamps. - The shirt is laid upon the padded work support 3 and is clamped by a band 17 the ends of which are swivel-jointed to front and rear arms 10, Fig. 1, and 11, Fig. 3, which are offset from a rod 9 rotatable in stationary brackets 7, 8. The swivel joint at the back arm 11 is provided with tensioning means 24, Fig. 3 and a spring 28 is secured between the arm 11 and the foot of the stationary bracket 8, the pivot of the arm being outside the line of the spring, to cause the band to clamp the shirt. The front arm 10 is provided with an operating handle 12. Fig. 1, by which the clamp as a whole can be swung about its pivots to clamp the shirt in any desired place. The front part of the shirt may be stretched and gripped between tong-like members 37, 38 which are secured to relatively rigid spring structures 33 anchored to the work-board 2.
