Abstract
778,576. Coat and like hangers. GOODMAN, M. March 22, 1956, No. 8908/56. Class 52 (5). A coat &c. hanger comprises hinged arms 10, 11, swinging downwards for folding, and a central hook member having an upper suspending hook portion 20 and a lower hook portion 22 movable up and down in a recess 15 in the inner edge of one arm and, when the arms are aligned, extending into a corresponding recess 17 and an opening 18 therefrom in the other arm to lock the arms in horizontal, operative position. The hook 22 is kept from rotation by the front and rear sides of the recess 15 and an opening 14 from the recess is elongated to allow insertion of the hook as shown in dotted lines in Fig. 3. After the hook has been turned to its upright position a pin 23 is inserted to prevent backward movement of the hook to bring the end 22 out of alignment with the opening 18.
