In a submersible type electric motor for driving pumps wherein the stator is sealed from the external medium, which also surrounds the rotor, not shown, by a thin gap tube 7 and end rings 4, 5 by which the laminations 1 are pressed together, the whole stator being contained in a casing 3, each ring 4, 5 has an axially directed collar 12, 13, the inner end face of which abuts the laminations 1 and an axially outer narrow annular extension 10, 11 to which the tube ends are welded at 8, 9, the tube bearing at the middle of its length against the laminations 1 and for the remainder of its length against the end rings so as not to be deformed by the pressure of the medium. One end ring 4 is screwed directly into'the cylindrical casing 3 whilst the other ring 5 is pressed against the laminations by a ring 6 screwed into the casing. The tube may be welded to the end rings under a pre-compression which corresponds to the pressure of the external medium.
