Abstract

775,675. Heat-exchangers. LAWRENCE HOLDINGS (OVERSEAS), Ltd. July 15, 1955 [May 31, 1954], No. 16067/54. Class 64(3) A heat exchanger, e.g. a radiator for an internal combustion engine, comprises a group of lock-seamed, tubes T of elongated rectangular cross-section extending through spaced transverse fins F formed with rectangular openings to receive the tubes, each opening having a peripheral flange 5. Preferably, shallow imperforate dimples 7 are formed in the fins F and are located between adjacent tubes as shown. The edge of each fin is folded to form a reinforcing hem 8 which is indented at intervals to counteract stretching as the result of the folding operation.
