Abstract
1,235,396. Finned heat exchange tubes. ESCOA CORP. 6 Oct., 1969 [4 Oct., 1968], No. 49083/69. Heading F4S. In a heat exchange tube with a segmented strip wound helically thereon to form a plurality of substantially identical rectangular fins, each fin has a width of less than 1/5 inch and has a height and thickness in accordance with the formula DT>HW + TW where D is the outside diameter of the tube and H, T and W are respectively the height (from the tube wall), thickness and width of the fin, all measured in inches. The width of the fin may range from 1/5 to 1/10 inches and the thickness may be between À020 and À060 inches. In a preferred example the fins have a width of 0À1562 inches and a thickness of 0À025 inches.
