Abstract

A method of heat treating steel strip in which the steel is cooled to between 600 DEG C. and 200 DEG C. by quenching as claimed in the parent Specification, winding the strip on to a reel, and subjecting the warm reel to a heat treatment in the above range to obtain a desired micro-structure. The reel may be fed into a tunnel furnace, e.g. of inverted U-shape, the temperature of which may be controlled.
