Abstract

775,018. Printing-machines. REYROLLE & CO., Ltd., A. April 21, 1955 [April 21, 1954], No. 11573/54. Class 100(2) Printing units 10 and folding units 12 are arranged in line and mechanically connected by a register shaft 13. Each unit 10 and 12 is driven by an electric motor 15 through a vertical driving shaft 16 connected to the register shaft 13 by bevel gearing 20 within a gear-box 17. Each motor 15 is mounted on the underside of a gear-box 17 and drives the shaft 13 through a clutch or coupling 21. The mounting of the motors 15 on the gearboxes above the level of the press floor provides ready accessibility for motor maintenance. Separate motors connected to the units through gearing and overrunning clutches may be provided for inching the press units or a single motor may be similarly connected to the shaft 13
