Abstract

773,953. Windscreen cleaners. TRICO PRODUCTS CORPORATION. Oct. 27, 1955 [Oct. 27, 1954], No. 30793/55. Addition to 735,558. Class 138(1) In the windshield wiper of the parent Specification in which there is provided a double faced cam part 59 and a follower part 60, one of the parts, (e.g. 60), in its. operative position, Fig. 3, straddles one edge of the other part (e.g. 59), and the cam and follower are relatively movable in a direction lengthwise of the arm 20, 22, 24, against the action of a spring 44, out of engagement with each other. The arm section 20 mounted on the actuating shaft 14, has a tubular pivot 36 on which is rotatable the arm section 22 pivotally carrying at 26 the wiper arm blade carrying section 24. The spring 44 is positioned between the head 41 of a pin 40 and a washer 42 secured in the pivot 36, the pin passing through the washer and a bore 50 in the arm section 22. The spring 44 urges the section 22 against the section 20 by means of a retainer ring 51 engaged in an annular groove 52 in the pin 40. The cam follower 60 has protuberances 70, 72. to engage the upper and lower surfaces of the cam 59, and a vertical channelled part 74. The part 74 has a slot 77 to receive the pivot 36, and is slidable vertically in a rectangular recess 76 in the arm section 22. In the position shown the follower maintains the wiper arm connected to the shaft head 29 in addition to the known latch 78 shown. By pulling the arm sections 22, 24 to the right against the action of the spring 44 the follower is moved to the position shown in dotted lines to free it from the cam 59, whereafter the wiper arm may be removed from the shaft 14. Rocking movement of the arm on the pivot 36 is limited by lugs 79 on the section 22. In a modification the part 74 is flat and engages in a recess 76 formed between the flat surface 56 of the section 20 and in the section 22. In a further modification the cam follower is formed integrally with the arm section 22.
