A plummer block comprises a single casting a having a plain cylindrical bore in which the outer race c of a ball or roller bearing is axially located by rings h which are retained by sheet metal pressings k secured to the ends of the block a. The end pressings are stepped axially outwards to provide an annular housing for an oil seal n made of synthetic rubber. A lubricant nipple q is mounted in the block a. When a pair of plummer blocks are used together, one of the rings h in each may be omitted.
