Abstract
771,281. Vehicle bodies. LA TRAMERYE R. DE, and HERBERT, J. July 29, 1955 [Aug. 19 1954] No. 22037/55. Class 108(1). A vehicle has a forward body part 1 mounted on a frame 4 provided with driven road wheels 6, and a rearward part 2 rotatable about an axis 3 into a vertical position to facilitate parking, by means of arcuate rack 14, pinion 15, sprocket wheel 19 and chain drives 21, 25 from a rack 29 forming part of a hydraulic jack. Before the part 2 is erected the jack 41 is actuated to rotate the crank 38 about its pivot 39 to bring the ground wheels 37 into position at the same time withdrawing the rod 43 from locking engagement with the recess 47 provided in the frame 48 of the part 2. When the part 2 is erected the vehicle may be turned about a vertical axis by actuating the jack 56 which causes the spider 51 to engage the ground and lift the wheels 6 and 37 thus enabling the vehicle to rotate about the rod 54 under the action of an electric motor or hydraulic jack. The body may be in a single unit rotatable about horizontal pivots carried by the frame 4 and four retractible wheels which may be driven may be used to facilitate manipulation of the vehicle when erected.
