Abstract

770,456. Forced-flow steam boilers. DURRWERKE AKT.-GES. June 3, 1955 [June 3, 1954], No. 16483/54. Class 123(2) A forced-flow, once-through steam boiler, has a corner-fired, vertical furnace chamber 18, surmounted by a radiation chamber 20. The walls of the chambers, which are shown in the Figure unfolded into a single vertical plane, are lined'with two identical groups of radiantly-heated tubes, those of the furnace chamber being arranged as a number of vertical panels 26a ... f serially connected by unheated downcomers 35a'... f whilst tubes 30;' 31 lining the radiation chamber 20 are bent into sinuous nested formations having short vertical and long horizontal runs: In operation, steam-water mixture flows from the outlet ,header of the final furnace tube panel 26f to a header 44 and then successively through tubes 26g, tubes 30a ... g and tubes 31a ... h constituting respectively a further evaporation zone and a radiant superheater to a final outlet header .42. During the expected load range of normal operation the transition zone is maintained within the tubes 30f, 30g, 31a, 31b disposed adjacent the radiation chamber outlet. The tubes of this zone, where salts deposit, although heated radiantly, ,are maintained at a safe temperature since the heating gas is at a comparatively low temperature. In modifications, the unit is constructed with a complete vapour generating and superheating circuit in each vertical wall of the furnace and radiation chamber.
