Abstract
770,027. Cabinets. TIPDEX (HOLDINGS), Ltd. Dec. 8, 1954 [Jan. 4, 1954; April 23, 1954], Nos. 143/54 and 11804/54. Class 52 (1). A filing cabinet contains a plurality of superposed boxes 23 each pivoted at 15 about a horizontal axis so that it can be opened to a position in which the front wall is at an angle to the horizontal, the boxes being divided by front-to-back partitions 30 so that each half can receive foolscap sheets disposed side-toside in the box. Further partitions 31 may be provided. The pivot at each side of a box consists of a pin taking into an aperture in a bar 20 projecting inwardly from the cabinet casing. Abutments 28, 29 on the rear and front parts of the box sides contact the edges of bar 20 in the open and closed positions of the box. The top and bottom of each box slopes downwards towards the rear so that one box does not foul another in opening. The centre of gravity of the box (whether empty or full) passes over the pivot 15 as the box is opened. The cabinet may have front doors slidably pivoted to the sides of the cabinet so that they can lie against the cabinet sides. The top part of the cabinet may be in the form of a book-shelf.
