Abstract

769,911. Agricultural implements. MASSEYHARRIS-PERGUSON (SALES), Ltd. Nov. 23, 1953 [May 18, 1951], No. 11637/51. Class 6(1). A tractor-mounted implement, of the type provided with marker arms 6 interconnected by a flexible cable 33 so that each arm is raised when the other is lowered, is characterized in the provision of a latch 28 to hold each arm raised and a pair of interconnected latch-disabling devices which operate so that the raising of one arm to the latched, position automatically disables the other latch to allow the other marker arm to fall when the implement is again lowered. The marker arms are attached to an implement which is mounted upon poweroperated draught-links, the movement of which, in raising the implement, causes the cable 33 to tauten and raise the lowered arm 6 to a vertical position. Each arm is rotatably mounted on a pin 4 carried by a bracket 1 which has an extension 11 mounting a fixed boss 13. A sleeve 14 and cap 18 are rotatably mounted on the boss 1.3 and a central spindle 20 is rotatable relative to both the boss and the sleeve. A torsion spring 15 interconnects the boss 13 and cap 18, and pins on the spindle and cap respectively can inter-engage during the motion of the sleeve to rotate the spnidle also. An arm 19 on the sleeve 14 projects across the line of motion of the arm 6. The spindle is integral with an arm 23 connected by a link 25 to the corresponding mechanism adjacent to the other marker arm, the arm 23 being formed with a cam 26 which can push a spring-loaded pivoted latch 28 into the path of the raised marker arm. Raising of the implement, by the power-lift, raises the marker-arm 6 which encounters the arm 19 in rising and thereby rotates the sleeve 14 and the spindle 20. As the latter rotates, the cam 26 pushes the latch 28 behind the raised marker-arm 6 and the link 25 causes the mechanism on the opposite side to be unlocked. On lowering the implement the opposite marker-arm is therefore lowered, the cam 26 having passed over-centre to lock the first arm in its raised position by means of the latch 28. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 544,041 and 624,707.
