768,750. Protective cut-out arrangements. COOPER & DE BEER (PROPRIETARY), Ltd., and BEER, C. L. DE. Jan. 3, 1955 [Jan. 5, 1954], No. 109/55. Class 38(5) The tripping of a circuit-breaker 3 controlling a single phase earthed neutral circuit is effected by two coils 4, 5 having different numbers of turns and acting in opposition to one another, one coil being in the line and the other in the neutral. This enables tripping in response to earth faults in addition to overload or lineneutral faults, the value of the current at which earth fault tripping occurs being a fraction of that at which overload tripping occurs. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the coils form the primary windings of a transformer having a secondary winding to which the tripping mechanism of a circuit breaker is connected.
