767,827. Eyepieces. COOKE, TROUGHTON & SIMMS, Ltd. Oct. 29, 1954 [Oct. 22, 1953], No. 29259/53. Drawings to Specition. Class 97(1) In an eyepiece for an optical instrument having three components, a negative component at the objective end of the eyepiece is located on the objective side of the image formed by the objective. Preferably, the negative component effects part of the magnification and the other two positive components, either of which may be a cemented doublet, make itp a lower power Huggenian eyepiece. Numerical data are given for three high-power microscope eyepieces. of improved performance which operate at an effectively shorter tube length, when fitted to a microscope of standard tube length; and provide increased eye clearance. The chromatic corrections required when either the single lens field or eye component is exchanged for a doublet is compared and contrasted with the corrections required for the single lenses. Specification 504,032 is referred to.
