767,206. Boxes. REED CORRUGATED CASES, Ltd. (formerly THOMPSON & NORRIS MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd. [Jan. 5, 1955 [Jan. 5, 1954], No. 268/54. Class 18. [Also in Group XXX] Structures such as pallets and liners for boxes are folded from blanks of fibrous sheet material to present alternately set teeth 14, 16, Fig. 2, spacing apart portions 6, 25 of the blank. In the pallet of Fig. 2 two sets of such teeth 14, 16 and 10 are provided at each side to form staggered box-like structures providing feet for the pallet. The blank may be of double-faced corrugated cardboard with the corrugations at right angles to the folds and the structure may be secured by staples 27, by adhesives or by cutting the edges 2 of the teeth to form interengaging lugs. By reducing the width of the platform 25 the inner faces 20, 17 of the legs may be brought into engagement to form a leg or a skid for a pallet ; this may then be secured by a strip of paper glued to the surfaces 6, 18. The projecting portions 23 on the upper surface of the pallet of Fig. 2 are staggered at opposite sides of the pallet so that a similar structure may be secured as shown to form a larger pallet ; structures having feet on one edge only may be similarly added to form a pallet in which the platform extends beyond the feet. A cushion for lining the bottom of a box may be formed by arranging the projections 23 on opposite edges of the construction of Fig. 2 opposite one another and reducing the width of the blank 25 so that the inside projections 10 meet ; the upper and lower platforms formed by such a construction may be inclined to one another. The Specification illustrates also a number of constructions of similar form which may form liners for the bottom, for the bottom and one side, or for the corners of a box.
