Abstract

765,039. Backing supports for labels. HERMANN, W. March 17, 1955, No. 7805/55. Class 73. A backing sheet, strip or web 1 for selfadhesive labels 2, 3 which are peeled therefrom as required, is formed with protuberances 4 so that the adhesive 3 is in contact with the tops of the protuberances only, thus facilitating easy removal of the labels from the sheet. In another form Fig. 3 (not shown) the protuberances are of hemi-spherical form. The backing sheet may be lacquered or varnished or alternatively chemical materials are provided in the sheet to decrease the adhesion of the labels thereto. The backing sheet may be formed of an extensible material.
