Abstract

763,782. Filters. FRAM CORPORATION. Jan. 20, 1955 [Feb. 23, 1954], No. 1766/55. Class 46. [Also in Group XXVIII] End closure discs 14 of fibrous material e.g. paper are adhesively secured to the zig-zag ends of a tubular longitudinally pleated filter body 10 of porous fibrous material e.g. paper, by coating the inner side of each disc 14 with a paste 17 of a polyvinyl chloride dispersed in a suitable plasticizer, embedding said ends therein, heating so as to soften the paste and then allowing to cool. The tubular body is supported internally by a perforated corrugated paper or metal cone 12 and externally by a perforated metal shell 18 having recessed portions 19 abutting the outer folds of the pleats 11. The discs 14 are annular and have outer flanges 15. In a modification the central aperture 16 of each disc has an inturned flange into which may be fitted a grommet.
