762,242. Flow-boxes of paper-making machines. VALMENT OY. July 13, 1954 [Jan. 25, 1954], No. 20497/54. Class 96. The level 20 of pulp in a flow-box 1 of a papermaking machine is maintained constant by an adjustable overflow weir 11, the outlet valve 17 for the overflow being controlled by a float 14 &c., and the air pressure above the pulp being maintained constant by the usual apparatus 18, 19 and also by reason of the smallness of volume changes within the flow-box 1 &c., the pulp continually overflowing at 11 and the cross-sectioned area of the compartment (or compartments) 13 being small compared with that of the remainder of the flow-box 1.
