Abstract
761,885. Cable terminations. HERON, A. G. Jan. 5, 1955 [Jan. 13, 1954; June 18, 1954], Nos. 976/54 and 17886/54. Class 38 (1). In order to provide a low-resistance termination for a cable 1, a sleeve of braided wire 4 is stretched over, so as to be in close contact with, the bared conductor end 1a, a rubber sleeve 5 being then added. In Fig. 2, a sleeve 11 is applied to a mineral-insulated heating cable 7 having a copper sheath 8 to which is screwed a hard-brass pot 10 in which one end of sleeve 11 is tinned, or finger-held, to the conductor end while a sealing medium 12 is applied. An insulating anchor bead 13 is then applied and an insulating closure 14 then nipped in the periphery of the pot. In Fig. 3 (not shown), a collet may replace the bread 13.
