Abstract

761,631. Sifting.apparatus. LOHR, H. Sept. 27, 1954, No. 27877/54. Class 117 For preparing and cleaning earthy masses in a screening drum 1, Fig. 1, grinding elements 6 mounted on axial shaft 15 by arms 5 or blades, vanes, worms or the like the surfaces of which are arranged in opposite directions so that axial thrust bearings for the shaft are unnecessary. The shaft 15 is rotated by gearing 17 and gearing 18 drives a coaxial shaft 16 carrying a worm 3 rotating in a feed, tube 2. Material fed to the channel 4 is conveyed into the drum 1 by the worm 3 continuously, but without pressure. The grinding elements may be constituted by synthetic rubber or the like rollers 7, Fig. 2, mounted on the arms 5 and urged radially against the drum 1 by springs 14. Alternatively cutters 8, Fig. 3, fixed to vanes 9, may be used, the cutting angle being adjustable by bolts 11, 13.
