Abstract
761,605. Supporting indicating-apparatus. TURNER ELECTRICAL INSTRUMENTS, Ltd., E. May 12, 1955 [May 17, 1954], No. 14484/54. Class 106 (4). An indicating - instrument mounting comprises a tubular, metal frame 10 with at least two stops at or near one end, one, 14, directed outwards and one, 15, directed inwards, and a plurality of tongues 16 in the wall of the frame for fixing it to a panel 12. To mount a meter 13 in the panel 12 the frame 10 is pushed into the aperture 18 until stopped by the rim 14 and the meter 13 is pushed into the frame 10 until stopped by the rim 16. The tongues 16 are then bent outwards to engage the rear surface of the panel 12 and the meter 13 is secured in the frame 10, preferably by bending inwards tongues 17. V-shaped tongues adapt the frame 10 to panels of different thickness and inclined bending lines 19 accommodate a greater range. Alternatively, further sets of narrower tongues 16 may be used. The frame 10 may be an open-ended cage with tongues in the form of stiff wires. The stops 14, 15 may extend over only a fraction of the periphery. They may be at different distances from the end and the frame may project forward to form a light hood.
