Abstract

759,971. Resilient joints. ANDRE RUBBER CO., Ltd. July 4, 1955 [July 8, 1954], No. 20008/54. Addition to 730,167. Class 108 (3). In a resilient torsion joint of the type defined in the parent Specification, both portions of some, or preferably of all, of either or each of the boundary of the bore 2 of the rigid body 1, and the boundary of the rigid inner member 7, that conform substantially with the sides of a closed multi-lateral figure, and upon which the masses 8 of elastomeric material roll when the joint is loaded, comprise two adjoining surfaces 9, 10, that are respectively straight and convex in cross section perpendicular to the axis of relative angular displacement of the rigid body 1 and the rigid inner member 7. In the construction shown, each side of the member 10 comprises a straight surface 9, and a cylindrical surface 10. The centre of the latter is at the middle of the opposite side of the member 7. The Specification includes curves of torque plotted against deflection (Fig. 3, not shown), for joints according to the present invention, and respective joints according to the parent Specification, and Specification 652,266.
